So we found this in the yard today not near any trees and right next to a pile of chicken poo- we think it's a first egg from one of our silkies! Unless it's a random egg that fell from the sky- a little nervous about eating it!

yayagoldie, I understand your excitement. It's very rewarding and exciting to get eggs from what used to be little chicks that we've nutured for several months. Yesterday my Black Austrolorp laid her first egg; we both were excited. My RIRs & BR & SLW have been laying 2-3 weeks. I still have 1 RIR and 1 BO to lay .. I think.
