Lilly, our White Leghorn laid her first egg on August first.  she was 19 weeks old.  She has only missed one day in laying one (it was too late in the day, so she laid it the following morning).  They are not very big, but each one has been perfect and delicious my husband says.

Colleen, our production red, should start laying soon. I can't wait to see if I get some big, brown eggs from her.

We also have 10 chicks that are six weeks old, so we've got a bit of a wait for them.

Are your leghorns really large, as in turkey large?
Are the eggs beige? or white?

Will try to post individual pics of my hens tomorrow. Not sure my huge fat twins are White leghorns. Someone with more knowledge than I will have to determine the breed.

It is bigger than the chicken eggs, and a light grey color. It will get bigger as she lays more, like chicken eggs get bigger with time and maturity.

Congrats! Its so exciting isn't it?? We only have one of 9 ladies laying right now...but i keep thinking any day we're going to see two eggs in the box instead of 1. We've gotten 9 eggs from our one laying and the last one was the biggest, so they do get bigger!!

Our first egg. I'm not sure if it is from my 7 month old Light Brahma, or my 17 week old Tetra Tint. Its very small so I was thinking the Tetra, but the Brahma has been showing more signs that she might be ready to lay. I thought Tetra Tints would lay a light creme colored egg, but I have seen a lot of people posting light brown as well. I guess time will tell.
