AllCluckedUp - I like your post! I was thinking the same thing just now.

Been waiting impatiently for my Australorps, hatched Jan 1, to start laying, especially since most of them have nice, red, well-developed combs and wattles. A little while ago I heard a pullet making odd noises that I had never heard before so I went out to investigate. And there it was:

It's very tiny, but I understand that is typical for the first eggs a pullet lays. The shell is nice and sturdy. Woo hoo! May a steady supply develop quickly!

Beautiful eggs, and yes they seem to get a little larger as their egg production system gets the hand of it!

I envy those colored eggs, hmmm I may have to think about expanding my flock!

I finally got my first egg today

I was starting to think I had duds! I am so excited I thought the day would never come. And who to better understand me then you guys at BYC! I went out to the coop and they were all yelling at me to let them out (as soon as they see me walk out the door they are calling for me) and I thought what the heck I'll check and what a surprise! I jumped up and down saying I got an egg I got an egg! (No one could hear me he he) I thanked the girls and gave them some yougart and then let them free roam...

I have been waiting to post on this thread for sooooo long!
I got my first eggs today!!!!!!!!!

4 perfect blue eggs from my EE's I have 7 hen's hopefully the rest will lay tomorrow they are 164 days old (23 weeks and 3 days).

Edited to add: they are more blue in person
