They're laying! One of the two EE's laid her first - the blue/green egg - three days ago & she's been faithful each day since. The Buffy's have been laying the longest (the light brown eggs), for several weeks, and I believe the dark brown, speckled egg is from the Speckled Sussex. Sassafras, the roo, has yet to crow, nor have I seen him "stepping up to the plate" with any of his squatting gals. I collect between one & three eggs each day...the Bantam Leghorns completed molting recently & have yet to be inspired to lay again...freeloaders, geesh!

My first egg from Brown Betty an Easter Egger. December 15, 2010. I got the days old baby chicks on July 7, 2010.

This has been a trial of errors and my once giant flock of 16 is now down to 8. I was beginning to think I would run out of chickens before I ever got an egg. Thank you Brown Betty. You did real good.

Here are my first two eggs, laid in the same nest on the same day! I'm so happy, but have no idea who laid them out of my 8 girls, hahaha.
