Carmen, my comet???? laid her first egg today.

I am so excited. I saw her acting strange yesterday and she was very noisy (actually she was complaining about everything I did outside...PMS???? )

Today, a perfect brown egg- regular sized.

No pictures, but I wanted to share anyhow.

Well we finally got our first egg/s! We knew it was getting close because of the way the girls have been acting for the last 2 weeks.

This is the guilty party we believe.

This is what they looked like on the inside.

My first egg from my Rumpless Araucana - MOON.

Moon's egg is on the left. The egg on the right is from my year old EE.

Moon will be 19 weeks old in a few days.

I am waiting EVERYDAY for 3 of my hens to begin laying . I have 3 already laying , BUT , these seem to be waiting for Christmas .

then 0nce these start , I will be even more excited and waiting again for my 28 TEENS to lay . They are about 15 weeks old now .

I also had another " old English Game hen " that use to lay everyday go broody on me , after she laid around in ONESPOT for 3 weeks , she finally BROKE the cycle , BUT has not started laying YET . Can anyone explain to me what it means for a HEN to be moulting ? After seh broke her broody cycle , she started pulling or losing ALL her breast feathers . They are now growing back , and NOW she has gotten a redish COMB again and wattles ... WHAT GIVES ?

Is this a phase they go thru ? She has 30 days to begin laying again , or she will make ONE HELLVA GUMBO when weather cools down .

There it is, the first one (bottom); store bought egg on top. From one of my Leghorns 19 weeks old. It would appear the other 3 leghorns have started as well as I've got 10 eggs so far from the date this picture was taken.
