Post Your Game Cam Pics Here!!!

Ha ha - I did see a coyote once - in Melbourne Zoo!

We have the local coyote analogue, the Dingo, but they are not a problem around here.

How about Goannas? someone posted on the duck thread about one getting her ducklings. We have alot of preds, I am still trying to make up my mind about what trail camera to buy after my Bushnell lasted only 3 years.

Our first coyote experience: One morning about 10:30 I heard a commotion. I looked out the front door to see one of my roosters walking down the street toward our house, fussing the whole way. Our chickens never go in the street! When I went outside, there were two of my neighbors in the street. They called me over and told me that a coyote came running out of our driveway with the rooster in its mouth! When it got to the street and saw them, it was startled and let go of the rooster. The rooster was unharmed, just very angry. Sadly, though, he was the planned dessert. Our other rooster, named Lucky due to surviving a hawk attack in childhood, wasn't so lucky that day.

Later on at about 1:30 p.m. I saw all the chickens suddenly run to the front of the yard. I ran outside (without shotgun, darn it). There was that coyote at the back gate. The only thing close at hand was a rake. Like a dummy, I grabbed the rake and gave chase. Of course, he disappeared.

Like CMOM, we have neighbors who lost several goats to a coyote and ended up shooting one, hopefully the one that came to our house.

It was quite a few months later that we caught a coyote on our game cam one night. We have never seen one during the daytime hours since that first one.

I have previously posted the picture, but here he/she is again -

So the coyote came back and got your Rooster Lucky?

No, he got Lucky first. Danny, the one walking down the road, was obviously planned to be dessert.

Aww that's sad, sorry for your loss. We have coyote and about any other pred but I'm thinking my dogs and their barking keep alot of things away in the daytime, at night they are locked up tight. although I did lose one of my bantam hens to a red tail about a month ago. Quite a few of my chickens chose to leave the fenced area for the woods daily so far they all come home.

Yep - Goannas are fierce predators. They would have no problem taking poultry, and they can climb anything.
There are plenty of them in the forest about 3 km from here, but I have never seen one around my farm.

Here's one snooping around a picnic ground near my place.
