Post Your Game Cam Pics Here!!!

Well, my game cam was turned slightly too far to the right to catch it, but I caught it with my own eyes! A black bear was looking at me when I went to unlock the barn this morning, about 50 ft away. It was just outside the pasture fence gate. It was an older cub or a young adult, not completely grown anyway.

At first, my brain didn't register that I was looking at a bear. I mean, it was the last thing I expected when I did my usual scan of the pasture this morning at 8 a.m. We eyed each other a few seconds then turned in opposite directions, LOL. We've seen bears run across the road in front of us a few counties over, had folks tell us they saw a sow and cubs in our neighborhood, found fur from a poached bear down the street, but this is the first time in 15 years of living here that I've caught one in person on our property. I'm kicking myself for not adjusting the camera yesterday when I was thinking about it!

We have a very large (well to me 400 lbs is big!) black bear in our area. My sister has been using my game cam to discourage vandals downtown, which has been working, but I'm getting it back. I love the idea of bears, I saw one wading in the river about 100 yards upstream from me and I was back in my car so fast I wasn't sure how I got there.

I like the new 'like' button, but miss the ovation field to type a note....
.....cause I just wanted to say YIKES!! Ima skeered of bears!!
A roaming spring male passed thru, and back out, near here a couple years ago...I'm very glad there's not an active population around me!

I sort of miss that, too, the ability to make a notation with the "like", but all in all, the new platform is pretty good, I think. I have a very healthy respect for bears to say the least! A lady who is my namesake, same first and last name as me, weirdly enough (Cynthia Dusel-Bacon) was attacked by a bear many years ago, lost both arms to the bear, one of the more famous bear attacks that could have gone even worse, but I can't imagine the fear!
Here is a link to an article about her attack:

I know there are bears around but haven't seen any. Every year there is a bear hunt. There is a quota and when it has been reached they close the hunting. Last year it was opened and closed on the same day.

I have a couple of coyotes that have been coming around. I see them on a game camera almost every night and sometimes a couple of times during the night. They don't bother the birds but I have electric around the coops and pens and they pens are all covered. When the coyotes are young they will check out the pens and get zapped by the wire. They don't test it out again.

Well, I was going to move my older StealthCam from the driveway location, but I'm glad I didn't. I caught TWO strange vehicles coming down my 200 ft long driveway, one on June 2 and one on June 6 when the gate was open. Now, I am off the beaten path on top of a small mountain so there is no reason for anyone to drive down my gated driveway, period, unless they are coming to see us or delivering something. Nobody does this, and I mean nobody, ever! This is highly unusual, for one, much less two strange vehicles to show up at my driveway and come up to my house in four days' time. This camera has been here for months and never caught more than my cat, us coming and going and squirrels.
The first time, I can tell both our small SUVs are here, but the white Scion comes when my husband has taken my Rogue to town and left the gate open, so that means I am home alone, probably in the barn. When we go off together, we close the gate. He doesn't always close the gate when he goes by himself because it's hard for him to get in and out to do that with his back. I saved these pictures in a folder. Now, my husband will be closing the gate ALL the time. And we need another camera, I do believe, closer to the gate, and maybe a sign besides the Beware of Dog sign that hangs on the driveway gate.
