Post your import breed wishes here....

I think Julie (Bamachicken) said she could not explain how it all worked out, that is was an answered prayer. I'm assuming that means something really special happened for her, so I don't think we can use that as a basis. I think we need to respect her privacy.

Hi Sara,

Bama herself posted links to sites for breeders, She has participated in the Crele thread about importing. She has told me herself she hopes something comes of this venture.
So I do not feel I am disrespecting Her privacy. She herself posted of her acquisition, just as ANYONE can do she imported some eggs.

If I was to do this this is how I would go about it. Contact a breeder of the breed I am after. Discuss all of the particulars like what the eggs will cost, how many can be shipped, shipping fees, vet fees (you will probably have to pay to have the breeding flock tested for disease). Next I would contact interested parties and let them know what the costs would be per person. If all are in agreement I would then get all of the paper work from both sides of the pond so that it is all legal. I would have the eggs shipped to the person that has agreed to hatch and raise the first batch of babies as there will not be enough to send babies to everyone (if any hatch at all). Each investor will be guaranteed a certain # of healthy chicks before any hatching eggs could be sold to individuals. A contract would be drawn up by my attorney to be signed by all investor to protect all involved in this project. It would have to be really organized before anyone should get involved with something like this.

F.Y.I I am interested in importing Golden Laced Orpington hatching eggs so if you are serious about exploring this PM me.

My dream birds are Wheaton Marans. sigh. I cannot nearly afford a few hundred dollars for eggs, not with a hatch rate from my own chickens egg at about 5%, another sigh, but I would dearly love to buy chicks from someone should they choose to import, breed, and sell these gorgeous birds.

Well since we are doing "wishes," I guess I will chime in.

I would be interested in some Maran, Dorkings, Sumatra(depending on breeder), and Ayam Cemani.

Oh I'm sure there are more, I just try to avoid the sites from other countries or else I find myself drooling over something I won't be able to have for years and years(if ever). LOL

Silver Grey Dorkings - heck, dorkings of any color... but I love the silver greys.

Quail d'Uccle bantams. Beautiful little birds. Saw them on a site from Australia just before I saw this thread. I hope it's a sign of things to come...

Yes it would! And I would definitely be in on something like this. Would love sussex (any and all colors) from the UK. Even checked into it a while back but didn't get too far since I'm new to specific breeds and there was enough in the US to keep me busy and my addiction satisfied for quite a while. But if something gets going count me in!
