Post your import breed wishes here....

Highest votes seem to be for the various orps. I'd like to see those, too. But I think the breed of choice almost has to be made according to who has a large amount of stock that we can get a larger amount of eggs from, right? People who are willing to go through the legalities for us crazy Americans

I'M IN!! Pretty please.
Here is my most unlikely list to get- the colors can be whatever is available!

Silver Quail Barbu D'Anvers
Barbu de Grobbe -all colors
Barbu D'Uccle -all colors
Frizzle or Silkie Japanese - all colors

For jungle fowl:
Saipan
Asil
Blue or splash Sumatra
Phoenix (other than silver)
Yokohamas

(That is unless someone here on the forum has these breeds!)

I know that my list was very eclectic, so I would be willing to help out in any way for the cost of supplies, shipping etc.
I would even just be happy with some nice Orpingtons, since I don't have any to speak of at all

I know MissPrissy, I just get all excited since I live in a non-diverse poultry are. I am the only one in this area (I think) that is building up a nice flock to sell purebred chicks and free range eggs.
If it doesn't go through, should I post a wanted ad on the buy, sell, giveaway?
Thanks again for this possible opportunity

I was talking to a friend in Toulouse last night (American now married to Frenchman, living in France)--she is planning on getting some hens in a couple of months. I sent her the link to the French Marans club, and she found some breeders near her and will see about getting some Marans now, so that's something good that came of all this discussion!

She also said that it looked like well-bred chicks could be had locally for about $3 USD. We joked about her slipping a few eggs into her purse on her next stateside visit...can you imagine how much fun you'd have on a transcontinental flight carrying both a baby AND a purseful of broken eggs? Hee.

What is funny is that she asked their 87-year-old French granddad what kind of chickens she should get, and he said Rhode Island Reds!

well i know a lot of people that want amauricana chickens. and rhode island reds:) but i bet people would really like strange looking breeds for show and things like that.
