I plan to learn/teach myself over the next few years as I am hatching BCMarans! My goal is to be able to sell sexed day old BCMarans!

The thing with vent sexing chicks that makes it real difficult is that each breed is slightly different as to what you look for. Which may explain the lack of information to be found. Some, both male and female have tiny bumps and the males bump has a shine to it and the females is dull. Other breeds the female is smooth and the male has a tiny bump while still others the female has a tiny bump and the male has two tiny bumps. So the best bet would be to research vent sexing the specific breed/breeds you want to learn. Also some the bumps will be so small that you will need to use a magnifying glass to see. Vent sexing chicks is nothing like waterfowl. Male waterfowl have a penis which roosters do not have. Vent sexing waterfowl is very easy compared to vent sexing chicks.
