Poultry and Dogs - Who Has Happy Pictures and Stories?

This is UNO...the baby EMU with his best buddy RINGO. I have a great passion for hatching so I thought I would try an EMU. It was a bit more challenging but well worth it so far. UNO follows the cats and dogs around in the house. RINGO puts up with UNO much better then the other cats and dogs we have.

Thanks for letting me share!!

Well I stared and stared at this picture but just could not see the EMU (what I knew an emu to look like), until--at last--I saw the tiny thing tucked under Ringo's arm! Can anything be more adorable than this (except, of course, little chicks)?! C-U-T-E! Best of luck with Uno as it grows!

Believe it or not, there is a Black Lab sleeping in there with 5 Light Brahmas !

The funny part was when she woke up & found all the chickens all over her she would chase them out, snort & go back in to sleep.see, the dog dish is in there...so while the dog's asleep, the chickens will play !

OH I LOVE YOUR SHELTIE!! We used to raise them when I was a kid. Then I grew up and it seems like our dogs find us. We always end up with strays but most make good dogs, just not nearly as cute as the little collies

That polish is some kinda funky color -- I like it!! I just hatched some swedish flower hens that are pretty dang colorful, but nothing beats that polish!

Anyway, here's my "poultry and dogs" pic. This is Henri, my sebastopol gosling from last year and my dog, Moose.

Thank you for the compliment on my Sheltie. I agree with you about dogs finding you throughout life more than you finding them - funny how that goes. How do you like your Sebastopols? I think they are the most elegant and adorable geese ever! I've even toyed with the idea of getting a couple but would have to learn more about them first.

By the way, the Polish in the picture is a Tolbunt, which is some kind of rare, although I don't raise them. We just got her at a Chickenstock from a breeder who was trying to improve the line (it's a very limited bloodline, I'm told) and she was not show quality. We just liked her because she was lovely, and turned out to be very sweet as well. How do you like your Swedish Flower hens? I've seen them on Greenfire Farms website and they were quite striking.

Oh, I like geese in general, but the sebbies are so enjoyable! My friend has chinese and man are they loud. I also have a pair of American geese that I raised from day old goslings last year along with a lone Lavender American gander. I gave him one of the smoothie sebs as a girlfriend and he's in HEAVEN. He's even a little hissy about her and protects her very well.

I have my sebbies separated into breeding groups right now with kiddie pools for bathing water and breeding. Geese mainly eat grass and lose their minds over romaine lettuce (or at least mine do). They are great fun and much much more going on up top than ducks or chickens. They seem to think things through and have a social order that is pretty complex. But they are all individuals and have their own personality like any other fowl. And they are BEAUTIFUL so what's not to love?

Where do you live? I'm swimming in eggs right now and might make you a great deal! Or if you are close enough, I have goslings hatching next week! They are sold, but more will hatch on the 18th and 19th.

Here's an adult "Henri" pic with my lavender American gander behind her. (sorry, I didn't mean to hijack your thread!) PM me if you would like more info. As for the Swedish Flowers, mine are only 8 weeks old and cute as bugs! I'll take pics and post later this week.
