Let's start a monthly poultry book club. I thought we all might be able to read the book together and have a discussion about it here on BYC. I would like to start with Raising Chickens for Dummies. September 1 through September 30th we will discuss Raising chickens for dummies here.

You can purchase it from BackYardChickens.com, Amazon , or Purely Poultry or you can get it from your local library.

I suggest reading 5 chapters a week (hopefully one chapter a day) and commenting about it here. Once we finish Raising Chickens for Dummies we will then read How to Raise Chickens by Christine Heinrichs in October. November's selection will be chosen by the entire group by September 15th.

Have that book. Love it. Have several books as well. Let's see what everyone says. Work full time, so a bit concerned about time mgt!

I love that book and I'm willing to read it again!!

I have the book and found it very helpful. Would like to start reading it again in a group. I think this would be fun and informative. I'm in!

You know I think I will start this first book on September 1. Give new people a chance to find out about it. Give us a chance to spread the word. And allow us to do logical September 1 to September 30th instead of doing 15th to the 15th. So if you would like to spread the word so that we can do this right every month I think that would be a great idea.

Also what would you all like our second book to be? I think we should stick to poultry as the topics of the books and my suggestion is How To Raise Chickens by Christine Heinrichs.

I'm reading Chicken Chronicles by Alice Walker right now. Also love, love, love Chicken Breeds & Care by Frances Bassom. I'm up for most anything chicken-related.
