Poultry Breeding & Showing Class in Sonoma County CA

Kim and Karen,

My daughter Jordan and I are interested very much....but we'll be coming back form vacation in LA Saturday the 24, might be too tired...but I would like to make a contribution just in case I get a second wind after the drive home :) Can you give me your contact info for either paypal or if you want I can send you a check?

-Thanks!

I will be in attendance on the 25th. Thanks for organizing this. I am looking forward to meeting fellow BYC'ers and this class.
Do I need to do anything else to register other than this?
Anne

For those who have asked about contributing, there's no rush, I will figure that out and let you know. I have reserved the room, still have to give them a definite time.

Thanks for the input on times, still want to hear more. Debi, how early is too early?

Bob, thanks for your input.

Maureen, now I feel bad! I was trying to find a date that would work for everyone. You can still come and snooze if you're tired!

Walt mentioned setting up exhibition cages, like a show. Where would I find those to borrow?

The 4-H Center website shows different ways that the rooms can be set up. Look at those pics. We have one 30 x 30 room. Think about the best way that we could arrange it for a learning experience and give me your ideas. Karen, I bet you will be good at this!

How early is too early? I am a morning person but I do have my chicken and dog chores that I need to do before taking off for the day. I would prefer a starting time of no earlier than 9. It's a 1 1/2 hour drive for me without traffic. Good thing that it is a Sunday!

I'll be there, but I won't be bringing any chickens. I'm still learning, and I don't have any breeders yet.
An all day class sounds great to me - anything starting at 9 or later should be okay for those of us who have a ways to drive.

Looking forward to learning a lot!

How to arrange the room will depend on how many people we have attending. We can set it up like they do 4H showmanship if the room has chairs & tables. I will try to get there early to help. I get dibs on a front row seat.........Not because I think I am special but because I have a hearing loss, don't want to miss a thing & haven't gotten hearing aids yet.........LOL. This room isn't too large but the acoustics in large rooms with alot of people drive me insane. I have stopped going to some functions because of it but I wouldn't miss this & it's small enough not to be a problem.
I have a collapsible black wire cage that I can bring for my bird. It was $39.99 at Tractor Supply. I could pick up a few more of them if that would help. They don't take up much room when folded down. I hope to carpool so am saving car room for people. The 2 Julies live south of me & I offered to carpool with them if they want & Olivia (my grand daughter) of course. She wants to show. Last year she was in the 4h Poultry group & didn't show. This year she in not in that group & now wants to show so I guess she will have to do it in the open divisions. She is like a sponge. I am so glad she is interested. I was determined not to push her & it worked. She got hooked at the Fresno show. We can learn together. It was my first time showing & I was DQ'd, rather my bird was....................LOL. Now that was a learning experience......LOL. Just goes to show you are never too old to learn.

Mornin' Karen and All,

The two Julies/Jules are in!! I am really looking forward to it. I will help however I can. I was thinking about bringing some detailed photos of a few of my birds to ask Walt about.

Let me know what I can do!

Day and hours have been decided for the class!

Sunday, March 25. 10:00 to 4:00.

The location is the 4-H Center, 6445 Commerce Blvd. Rohnert Park, CA

To sign up for the class, email me. [email protected]

I will send you an information sheet and questionnaire. This will help determine topics to be covered, etc. You can return that to me, by (snail) mail, with your donation to help cover the 4-H Center rental.

The class will be limited to 30 people, due to the size of the room.

We can still discuss everything about the class here also. I do need people to sign up so I can know how many are coming.

Thanks everyone!
Kim

I contacted Denny, Lotsapaints in Paso Robles yesterday. She wants to come but doesn't know yet. If she comes that would make 21.
