Poultry Breeding & Showing Class in Sonoma County CA

I've got the emails that you have sent me and will be sending an info form back to you all soon. There are still spaces available.

I need to get the rental form filled out and it asks how many tables & chairs we need. Choices are 6 ft. tables or 12 ft. tables.

The room is 30 x 30. Walt wants at least 4 cages set up like a show. It might be better to do even more plus people are bringing birds. So we need tables for cages. Do we need tables for people also?

I need some ideas on how to set this up, so that the cages are like a show and all the people can still see and hear Walt. Give me some ideas so that I know how many & which tables to reserve. I have to get this form in asap.

I also need to know where I can borrow some large fowl exhibition cages.

Thank you!
Kim

Kim let me contact a few guys that have put on local shows and ask them. Worst case I know many of us have large cages and maybe we can set them up, they won't be all the same but it will work

I'd say 15-20 chairs as most won't be sitting

I'd do 5-6 six foot tables ( 2 - 3 tables for birds, 1 refreshment table, 2-3 table for people???)

IMO If you have 2-3 tables dedicated to birds, then as Walt finishes with some, others can be put up on the tables and the others can be taken down

Personally, I would reserve at least a chair per person, including Walt. Six hours of someone having to stand might be a bit hard. It might be better to err on the side of too much table space vs too little as well. Especially if there isn't a big price difference, if any. We can always take some down if they aren't needed and in the way. Just a thought :)

The tables & chairs come with the rental, so price is not an issue. I have to request a certain number on the rental agreement, which is why I'm trying to figure this out.

I will order enough chairs for everyone, so people can choose to sit or not. It was mainly tables I was trying to figure, since the room space is limited. I don't know how many cages fit on a table.

I actually got out some graph paper to draw this out.

I'm thinking maybe it would work to have tables along the walls. We could use them for cages and refreshments, learning materials, whatever. We could have the chairs in the middle for us to sit and Walt could sit/stand in the front or walk along the perimeter where the tables/cages are. That way we could all see & hear him.

Cheryl, if you know someone who has put on a show, it would be great if you could ask where they get the cages. Is there a local poultry club in Sonoma? Who put on the Expo show?

Thanks,
Kim
