good luck on the hatch and chicksUpdate on my Partridge Pendesenca/Maran eggs. One is pipping tonight and peeping too. Tomorrow will be exciting to see how many more are having "a coming out party".
I am also awaiting a shipment of P.P.'s next week, which is to include cockerel's as well as more hens. Hope they turn out to be decent birds.... I don't have any breeders near me that I know of. Eventually I will have to ship some eggs for diversity and improvement.
wow 26 days. was your heat too low? Penedesenca usually take a day longer in my experience. I can not hatch them with other eggs as the others hatch earlier and mess up my hatch. My partridge Penedesenca/Maran chicks are hatching. Many are DIS but at least I am getting a few. I must have done something that was not kosher for them... I'll have to read more.
One is out of the shell, another one has a hole pecked. The hatched one is a dark grey with ox horn beak and grey legs. It will be interesting to see it mature. More may be viable but I'll have to wait and see.
Another thing of interest is they took more like 26 days to start hatching. The person I bought them from had the same experience. Anyone have any thoughts on that?
My shipped chicks will be here on Tuesday or Wednesday. They will be close enough in age to brooder together. I don't think telling them apart will be a problem.
