Poultry Breeds of Spanish Ancestry

You got rid of your favorites? I don't think I could do that. I really really like my birds. If I cannot sell them, as much as it pains me to do it, I'll cull the extras. Usually though, it's the roosters you have a hard time selling.

I think people need to be informed about the empordanesa comb. They're the ones with the multitude of spikes on the back, right? Well, since the SOP disqualifies side sprigs, and these things look like massive side sprigs, even though they're not a recognized breed, people are pre-conditioned against it, I think. I could be wrong. But if they're supposed to look like that, it will just take some getting used to.

Yes, the penedesencas too. It is called a kings comb because it looks like a crown. It is awesome looking!

Just wanted to share a bit of excitement this morning.

I was "talking" (messaging) with one of my "mates" (friends) down in Aussieland last night. He has some contacts and thinks it MAY be possible to ship some hatching eggs to me without it costing an arm and a leg!

I'm waiting to hear back from him and will let y'all know.

They're in the depths of winter there right now and he says his pullets will start laying about June and after he makes sure they're fertile, he will ship me about two dozen eggs. So, it will be probably August... which is kind of scary. We need to work out the time table because August here is WAY TOO HOT! Maybe wait a month or so.

Here are a couple pictures of the line he has! I'm so excited! Can't wait!
