Poultry Hollow Hatchery Experience and Poultry Hollow Hatchery Chick "Growth Chart" (PIC HEAVY)

thank you ..I know some people just dont think about animals like we do..I guess they think they can care for them selves...I know we live in TN and puppy mills are really bad here we hear cases like that quit often around here..so sad...yes we will never buy anything from them ever again.

that is what I thought...and I also doubt that the polish that was sold as white is really white it looks more like either a mix between buff and white or buff.

that is what I am thinking...but no mater what color they are I will still love them

they were also all sold and priced as 2 week old chicks...do you think that could be true...they are all so tiny compared to my other chickens at 2 weeks....when my older ones were 2 weeks they could barely fit into my hand...these are the size of our oldest ones when we first got them and they were 1 day old.

Growth update...I can tell that they are gaining weight they look perkier and healthier than when they were in the brooder at the hatchery

Two weeks? No way! I'd say less than a week old.
That is what I said....here is what I said to the owner.

Me: these chicks dont look like they are two weeks old, they are alot smaller then then ones I have at home when they were 2 weeks.

Her: How many chickens do you have at home?

Me: 33

Her: How many chicks do you think are in this brooder?

Me: I dont know Hmm...80?

Her: Well see, that is the reason, we try to keep the numbers low but there are still going to be bullies that wont let other eat.

So she told us that the reason they are so little is because the bullies were not letting them eat. I thought well they are all that size if what she said was ture why weren't the bullies big and fat?
I think they are only a few days old, and the reason she told us they were 2 weeks is so she could charge us more.
she was also a smart aleck

I bought chicks from Poultry Hollow a few months ago. I was inside the brooder house and there wasn't a bad odor - just normal chicken yard odors. It was a rainy day, too - and usually that kind of weather would make any odor more noticeable. I didn't pay attention to whether or not different colors of a breed were penned together since that's not my interest. I noticed the pens with a few chickens in them - but they weren't over-crowded. As we walked among the brooders, everything was well kept - and the chicks were healthy and thriving. I got chicks from several different brooders - so we walked the length of the brooder area and back. I am very pleased with the chicks I got from them, and the people were helpful and friendly. No, it's not a high-tech fancy hatchery, but there was no mismanagement of the poultry that I observed.

There are several threads about Poultry Hollow with both pro and con comments. I would definitely buy from them again based on my personal experience and observation. Sorry your experience wasn't a positive one. The chicks you got sure look healthy, though.
