Powdered Duramycin (oxytetracycline) antibiotic in water

Find someone that's good at math and tell them that a chicken drinks about 15% of it's body weight per day. From that they should be able to figure out how to make a more concentrated dose.

I've got one hen with diarrhea (who's been treated with Triple Strike ongoing in feed and shiws no signs of worms or illness other than the diarrhea) and my vet suggested I treat her with oxyyetracycline powder. Can someone verify that this is 2.5 tablespoons per 1 gallon of water for the 800mg dose? Treat for 4 days, changing water every 24 hours, and with hold eggs for 3 weeks with this hen?
Thanks.
Tracy

Yes, tbess, it is correct as long as you are using the Durvet brand below, but use it for 7 days instead of 4 days. Here is a link to verify that: http://www.durvet.com/dl/Durvet-Poultry-Brochure.pdf

I have a hen that I rescued and she is having respiratory issues. I bought the oxytetracycline powder and was wondering if I could mix it in some cat food or something other than the water to ensure that she takes it. Thanks in advance..

You could mix the medicated water in some crumbles.'
