Power outage, pips went for a ride! UPDATE Pg 4

That is so cool!Congrats on the new little ones.I"ve had invertor that plugs in a cig lighter for years.works great.I recently purchased a large deep cycle battery to use with a bigger invertor. We needed one anyway to run lights when we have to work after dark.Plus it will runs lots of other stuff, like fans and water pumps.I stayed home last year when I should have been camping because of my birds. This year I'm gonna take them with us.

5 more hatched, bring the total to 8 chicks. The ninth egg tried to hatch but the chick was deformed and died.

Chick #4, this one is not an olive egger, its the same blue birchen marans roo, but mom is SLW, CW, or BLRW...I'm guessing its the CW that's the momma.

Chick #5, black with a white/yellow belly and chin, olive egger

Chick #6, olive egger, but it's the weirdest color, almost a very pale greyish green. I'm so curious as to what color its going to be.

Chick #7, came from a brown egg, so mom is either SLW, CW, or BLRW (I'm guessing SLW). This chick is black all over, beak is black, feet are black, but it does have some white on its belly.

Chick #8, another olive egger, sort of a smeared chipmunk pattern.

I have no clue!!!!! I want to see what color it'll turn out RIGHT NOW. It's a very pale greyish almost green tinged color. It kind of looks like splash colored chicks I've seen before. It's definitely not yellow. So who knows what its gonna be.

That one will be fun to watch alright...you are probably right...some kind of splash. They change so much from hatch...I have an Australorpe, that I know for sure is a pure one, that "had" white, all the way down the middle of the underside of it. That white is now disappearing, and I can see, will be a true pure black girl...I love the Australorps eyes, so sweet. Have fun watching those babies grow into beautiful big birds.

I know, so many colors. I'm actually surprised at the variety.

So I got 6 olive eggers total: 1 brown chipmunk, one silver chipmunk, 1 smeary tan chipmunk, 1 black and white, 1 blue and 1 splash??? (or more accurately pale gray/green).

Then 2 non-olive-eggers: 1 silver/brown chipmunk, 1 very black chick.

I loved watching them all hatching and wondering what the next one would look like.
