Young Americauna...just beginning to lay eggs...2 sisters had mouth sores and she came up with this nasty eye. (Preceding event: a critter? Racoon or opossum...climbed up to the coop door. The girls were sleeping close enough to the wire that the critter was able to claw their faces through the wire. Superficial wounds, at least I thought so at the time. I treated and they healed. This happened two weeks later. No idea if they are related. Cage door issue has been remedied.)

This is day 4 of treatment. Her sisters are already healed and looking great. I still don't know if they have the same thing. It is so hard to tell!

She is eating and is upset that I have her isolated in a separate pen. Her poop looks decently normal. Large white bulb with green liquid around it...she is getting a lot of fresh parsley and kale.

Left side shows a bubble-like growth at the corner of her eye.

Right side shows the nasty thick skin that has grown around and closed her eye. She has some nasal discharge and nothing smells. The eye will discharge bubbling clear liquid. She has yellowish sores in her mouth now. I thought it was pox, but it is not really crusting up-of course I keep it slathered with antibiotics, so that may be why it is not drying.

Should I let it dry out?

I drained a thick cheesy crud from the bubble above her right eye, and it continues to fill with fluid, but is not getting crusty or growing.

Her breathing is a tiny bit raspy. I have heard LOTS worse, and it seems to be getting better.

She is getting: thyme and oregano oil mixed in olive oil; yogurt, fresh garlic, parsley mixed in a wet cat food. We just started her on meal worms and super worms. She (and her sisters) are getting a tetracycline mix in their water with other vitamin and mineral supplements. She is getting Vetrx, terramyacin eye ointment, vetracin eye ointment, and 3 way antibiotic ointment on the face.

She laid an egg two days ago that looked normal. None of the girls have laid regularly yet, as they are so young.

Should I try a sulfa drug in the regimen?

Anyone know what this is? Can she have pox and myco at the same time? Any idea how long this will last? Will it kill her?

There are no local vets that care for poultry so I am on my own.

Thanks so much for your help!

She does not seem to be any worse...sores in her mouth have not gotten bigger. I can no longer open the eye to get meds in. Should I let it dry out? Please advise.
