)....I think the saying is...."It is easier to beg for forgiveness than ask for permission"....my DH is working a later shift so might be with me as well....maybe we can find something for the guys to do so we can send them off together? Maybe a big sale at Bass Pro Shop nearby???

Hmm, I was thinking more like some tylenol PM in is Diet coke???? Would that be illegal? I told him, he should be grateful, whenever I go look at horses or cows I always come home with one extra, so whats a few (like 20) more chickens, besides the kids could sell the eggs on the weekends right?? Potential income for the farm, LOL!!

Thanks Cheryl, I will search him out. I am so eager to learn all I can and just having a name is so helpful!

I know we haven't met yet, however, I wanted to say congratulations on your engagement!

Thanks! well the joke around here is that we picked out/designed the ring and are paying on it - layaway so to speak, but that we really aren't engaged because he hasn't proposed yet. Funny becuase we've been talking about it for years and years! gotta love him!

I checked in with Rob a few days ago and he's not planning on having one...it's a shame. I was even going to maybe split one with him to sell my grocery totes, but with all that is going on I don't really have enough stock to do that.

Rob also said he may not be going, also a shame - he's like a techno-chicken-guru and he'll be missed if he doesn't make it

Your idea is even better! You sound so much like me. I once rescued a bay mare...and there was another bay mare there in bad shape...so I thought 'What the heck, he probably won't even notice"...so I put them both in the pasture with the mix of other rescue horses we have and he did ask "What color did you say the new horse was?" and I answered "bay" which was the truth!

To answer some of the questions that didnt get answered yet....

Raffle is held in the building with the human food... it is the first building on the right if you enter from the West gates. If you enter from the North gates, well the first big building on your right has LF and water fowl, then the like the second building on the left is the sales building, just past that on the left was where the junior competed in the avian bowl and showmanship (small kids in white clothes is the clue here-lol); then there is some parking and a sherriffs substation (ie trailer) on the right, and the next building kinda on the right, kinda straight ahead, is where vendors, bantams, people food and the raffle is. Tickets are purchased in the raffle area from some really nice people who staff a table. Those who attended last year will remember this is where BYC also had their booth.

My suggestion is BYCers meet in the food area, and have some coffee while they wait for the others to arrive (and you will be very close, as in right next to where last year they had the breeders raffle birds!)

Marans egg entries are still actively being sought for the egg show. Look back in the early pages for information. If you are planning to hand carry your egg entry, you may pick that entry up after the show and take it home-- this only applies to eggs that are hand delivered on Saturday. All entries must be present and signed in no later than 9am on Saturday. Remember it only takes 3 eggs to make an entry, so go out and talk to them hens!

For those of you wanting Marans chickens or eggs, I spoke with Pete Ovalle tonight, and he will have 2 dozen hatching eggs for sale. He also indicated he was bringing three laying French Black Copper pullets (about 10months old) to sell. They are pure Bev Davis lines, but I did not ask which lines (C-1, etc).

I am on the fence whether to bring any FBC Marans to sell. Mine are in the 10-16 wk range, and that is really too young for me to sort through and determine if they are keepers or sellers, but I will have some for the Auburn/Gold Country Swap, should that happen in early Summer.

As for things for DHs to do... I think Bass Pro is a great idea, there are also some decent golf courses not too terribly far, such as Patterson and Mickey Grove. Might want to investigate that line of thought ladies... get them a tee time and have them drop you off!

then rondez-vous for a nice dinner... nice weekend get-away for both of you! And think of the souvenirs you will have to remind you of this pre-Valentines treat!

Have a blessed evening, and can not wait to meet you all!
