PPBA Stockton California show

Hey great pic! I'm the frizzle over there on the far right and my DW and DD's are in front of me. Until next time... Same bat time, same bat channel!

Hey OEGBman, what kind of incubator did you find?

I too came home with empty cages. I stuck to my shopping list, and there was none on my list to be had

. I won some stuff in the raffle, and bought some shirts and bumper stickers so it wasn't a total shopping loss. LOL

The one thing that amazed me was the size of many of the standard breeds. They looked positively huge! I also saw some birds which I had heretofore only read about, like the La Fleche; and I was sorta in awe over the popularity of bantams, especially the "game" varieties, which I look at and say hmmm, not much there to eat, can't possibly lay a regular sized egg, so what exactly is their appeal??? Still mystified over that one. Having said that, I was very taken with the partridge cochin bantams, and was sure hoping I would have the lucky ticket for them in the raffle, but that just wasn't to be.

Well hope everyone made it home safe and sound. I need to get out to take care of the flock before heading up to work.

Next shows are in Eureka and Fresno, so maybe I'll catch up with you around the sales coop.

Its an older, round metal model. I've got it heating up in my room right now. I got it from a CA chicken member.

Congrats Laurie!! Is that the one you told me I could have?

I went by yesterday afternoon with my wife and 3 kids. We had a lot of fun and the kids are even more interested in getting chickens. There were a lot of beautiful birds there and my wife could not believe how many different types of chicken's there are. I am now one step closer to getting some of our own. I have a couple of other projects that need to be finished before I can build the coop (wife's orders).

Sorry late in posting... computer was under everything in the car and I just got it out.

I'm 3rd from left, in green BYC Sweatshirt. I too came home smelling like a chicken.
Yay Cornelius won a 1st! And right before he was going to come home someone offered to buy him for their breeding program. (Sorry Jordan

) So he has a new home and I don't have to worry about fights vs no free ranging. I'll miss him anyway.
I bought lots of auction tickets, won nothing (haha), bought some silkie size diapers & other supplies (great prices at the show), was amazed by the size of the LF Faverolles, Orps, etc., and got a great chick from HarmonyOaks to keep my solo chick company.
Plus 4 adorable Serama Eggs from SilverPhoenix!

Did anyone else here go to the dinner? The outgoing president, without naming BYC, gave great Kudos to the backyard chicken movement for raising public awareness and acceptance of poultry for all!

Next year.... I will buy a sale cage and take all the birds I can! Somehow I thought they had to be in the show first.

Hmm, wasn't planning on Fresno or Eureka, but maybe

Glad to hear your roo did great, Laurie! LOL, it's ok, I have a roo already! What other Favs do you have? I'm already in love with this pair. I didn't go to the dinner, but that sounds awesome! I hope to make it to Fresno, we'll see! It was great meeting you guys.

Well shoot, i didn't make it to the show. i figured the sale building would be too much temptation, and i'm still struggling here to finish coops and pens for all my youngsters who are quickly growing up.

Hey, is there a list somewhere of all the winners? The Pacific Poultry Breeders website is hard to navigate, so couldn't find a list there.

I made it to the show, but sorry I missed the picture. I did however meet some BYC peeps. It was fun to attach some faces to names. I WILL DEFFINATELY MAKE IT NEXT TIME WE MEET UP. Also, I will probably show at Stockton next year too. I think I cought the showing bug!~ Tacey

The 2010 Orpington National was held there and I heard the former President of the Club who is in his 80's was there showing some Bantams. Someone is supposed to post photos of the winning orpingtons on the Club site later to nite or in the morningl. I know everyone had a great time. Look forward to seeing photos of some birds.
