PPBA Stockton California show

Looks like a great bunch showed up last year! This will be the first real chicken show I attend, and I'm getting more and more excited for it!

It's slightly ridiculous how much I'm looking forward to this, and I keep checking this thread over and over again. At least now I only have to make it through tomorrow (well, technically today) before I get to go! I have lots of preparations to make tomorrow, and I'm not even showing anything! Hope to see you all there.

LOL me too. I think I am more excited than anyone in the house. Although I do most of the research so having my head in this site constantly doesn't help I'm sure... See yall Saturday! Hey just outta curiosity, so if we do in fact buy a chicken or two there right when we get there will we have to wander around with our poultry all day? I really have no clue how this all works.

My assumption is that if you buy chickens you just load them up in your car and leave them there until you're ready to leave. Bring carriers, boxes, etc. I'm bringing a cage just in case there's something there I can't resist, even though I have no intention of buying birds. I have nine newly hatched chicks at home! That's plenty for now! But you never know.

Wooo Hoooooooo! I'm SO looking forward to this. I'll be there tomorrow around 10AM for most of the day with a camera and I'm totally easy to spot -- I have a big hot pink stripe in my hair. Wander up and say hi!

And of course I'll be at the BYC booth at 2! I'm looking forward to meeting y'all!

I'm bursting at the seams!!!!

Ok yea I'm in the same boat as you. I'm bringing a carboard box and a pet carrier "just in case" lol! I kinda have a feeling we will end up with something. Last weekend we went to a feed store that had chicks the other day my intentions were to go and see what 3 week old chicks looked like. I must admit they were cute and if we could I would have wanted to get like 3 or 4. We walked in there and my DW dropped her jaw and popped the question, "how many are we getting?" I said the usual, "I dunno babe, it's up to you. How many do you want to get?" She pops out with, "How about a dozen!"

Um... OK!

So yea... I have a "feeling" we might end up getting something.

Wow, great, I've never been to a poultry show before and that's only a little over an hr. away. *Nifty-chicken, I will ask my friend if he wants to go and if he still has his muscovy ducklings. They were just born the wk aft. Christmas but I don't know if he sold them yet or not. I'll check on it and hopefully will go to the show too! Sharon

If you plan on making a live purchase, then bring crates and cartons. The 4-H'ers have a limited number of boxes to sell, but if you are turkey shopping like me, you should bring your own. Can't wait to meet you all, travel safe.

lol I have a car full of boxes I was about to unload for crates. I'll leave as many boxes in as I can, for anyone who wants them.

ETA: extra boxes loaded, plus a new bale of shavings. I'll be in my green BYC sweatshirt, in a VW Wagon (my kid says blue but it's Anthracite...dark charcoal), <3 BIODZL plates. 11 hours to go!

Thank goodness I read this thread! I forgot to inform my mother I needed boxes. Luckily she was still at work. It's almost here! I don't think I'll be getting much sleep tonight!

I will be there! I talked DH into goping...(actually I told him I was going, did he want to come along?) I have never been to a chicken show... I used to go to the Orange Show as a kid, but they are not as fun as chickens! Also, I have NO intentions of buying any chickens! But how can a person resist if they spot their soul mate?
