Pray for my barred rock hen plz HELP ME update last page

I have an auracanna that has done this twice in two years. Both times I thought she was on her way out. I did the same as you and took extra care with her in a cage in garage. After a few days she layed an egg and recovered. This last time I was going to put her down but very glad I did not. She is back with flock and doing fine. Good luck hope this helps.

Hi Andrea

There are some threads on this - I will post a link here. To check her, gently massage her lower abdomen and see if you feel an egg-shaped mass. Do it gently, as you don't want to break it if it's there.

If you don't feel anything, great. If you do, this thread (and its links to others) may be able to help you.

I hope she just needs a little extra love and attention. Hey - when I feel sick, that's what I want, too.

Sounds like you got your hands full.

I had 2 girls with problems kinda similar. One was an older hen and I had to put her down. Not eating or drink much. Small poops if any....Towards the end she couldn't even stand and wouldn't eat or drink. Just hung out with the others.

Lost A LOT of weight. Barely walked around.

The second was a Polish/leghorn mix. She made it, but it was scary. Seemed touch and go for a while. Wasn't sure she would make it.

That girl must have eaten something while free ranging. Wouldn't eat much. barely drank. Stopped laying. About a week into all the problems, she had a poop that was really strange. It was firm and about 6" long. It would not brake off and it just kept coming out. After waltching her struggle with this poop for about a half an hour, I went in the house and got rubber gloves, went back out by her and had to pull the rest out. She had 2 poops like this and within a day or two, was back to normal. I still don't get what she could have eaten to make her poop like that.

I hope your girl pulls through.
