prayer warriors (following Jesus Christ, everyone welcome)

Don't know if it's on YouTube but here's a live album on Spotify. I love Tenth Avenue North and all the songs on here but I love the live version because of what he says/preaches between songs. Some parts of the speech kind of continue on into the next track so you gotta listen in order not shuffle

this was early in their career, like 2011 and I think their first album was 2008 so that's cool too and yeah. Mike has a lot of YouTube videos too. I love the way he teaches/preaches and he's such a funny dude too. I also love Matthew West and Sidewalk Prophets haha those are 2 separate groups btw haha but yeah.

Genesis 16:11-13 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
11 The angel of the Lord said to her further,
“Behold, you are with child,
And you will bear a son;
And you shall call his name Ishmael,
Because the Lord has given heed to your affliction.
12 “He will be a wild donkey of a man,
His hand will be against everyone,
And everyone’s hand will be against him;
And he will live to the east of all his brothers.”

Yep, how different the world would be if only Sarah hadn't tried to do God's job!

When i go to work, I get over an hour of uninterrupted worship time in the car. A lot of what I've been hearing this week, no matter what station I'm listening to is about love. Go figure! Even a 1/2 hour program devoted to Eros, and the importance of that love in marriage. Also, worthy of further meditation: Not only are we to love God, and our neighbor, but we are COMMANDED to love ourselves. Not an arrogant puffed up love, but because we are created in God's image. And because we are His sons and daughters. The balance comes when we see His total, redemptive love for us. When we know His love, we can learn how TO love. I'm not doing well at expressing this. But... It's humbling to know such great love He has for us.

Matthew 22:37-39 And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.

I John 4:7 And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.

John 13:34–35, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

I John 3:1Behold what manner of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God. And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know Him.

So true! It's hard to fathom the same God of Jacob and Ishmael, becoming a mere man in order to bring us together to love each other and die himself for all our mistakes. After all we've done to him, and he still loves us. We humans almost don't have the CAPACITY to love as selfless and unconditionally as He loves us. We love based on feelings and emotions and there seems to be a price tag or a certain set if limitations on even the love we feel for our mates and children. But Agape love, that's only possible through Jesus. And Jesus loves me, this I know... And I can use Him to help me learn to love myself unconditionally like he does. And...If HE can love little ol me, then maybe I can love little ol you :)

verse the Anne Murray song referred to:

Matthew 8 NASB
18 Now when Jesus saw a crowd around Him, He gave orders to depart to the other side of the sea. 19 Then a scribe came and said to Him, “Teacher, I will follow You wherever You go.” 20 Jesus *said to him, “The foxes have holes and the birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.” 21 Another of the disciples said to Him, “Lord, permit me first to go and bury my father.” 22 But Jesus *said to him, “Follow Me, and allow the dead to bury their own dead.”
23 When He got into the boat, His disciples followed Him. 24 And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being covered with the waves; but Jesus Himself was asleep. 25 And they came to Him and woke Him, saying, “Save us, Lord; we are perishing!” 26 He *said to them, “Why are you afraid, you men of little faith?” Then He got up and rebuked the winds and the sea, and it became perfectly calm. 27 The men were amazed, and said, “What kind of a man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?”

Well said.

Quote: It appears, from everything I have read, that the god of Ishmael has been redefined to be a false god, easy to do in today's world. Pride has taken what was real and turned it into a lie. There is a "Jesus" in the Koran that has been redefined to be only a prophet. Similar to all false religions, they use pride and say "You are good enough to work your way to heaven, you don't need Jesus' death and resurrection as well as any need to repent of your sins".

How many good deeds make up for God's death in your behalf?

Well it was no good deed of MINE that saves me. It was the good deed of Jesus that truly saves me.

For me, even accepting Christ as my Savior is somewhat selfish because I don't even fathom the magnitude of it and take advantage of the fact that I can walk around here with all this " stuff" that I have been provided in order to spread the gospel but I think I'm just an entitled human in America.

But I'm a SAVED entitled American. Any good deeds that I do are in thanks for already being saved, not to merit a reward.

I'm glad I'm not Hindu or Buddhist or Muslim because I would never be able to measure up to those false expectations and would continue to have a "hole in my soul" that only Jesus could fill.
