prayer warriors (following Jesus Christ, everyone welcome)

I am so happy to see this thread thrive, welcome it and follow it, don't comment cause no way could I say anything that could compare. Hope and pray it all continues and no one is allowed to crap on it.

It's pretty neat to see how many people can just get together and attempt to share their journey to know God with each other. I've been enlivened by this daily oasis lol; keeps my appetite for the word filled for the most part.

I'm glad most of ya'll put up with my early morning pondering lol; I have too much quiet time to myself :p

so many choices, here is another, similar name to Unitarian Universalist but different.................with a name like this you can see why people who have not studied the Bible get confused

https://www.namb.net/apologetics/unity-school-of-christianity

Who is up for a challenge? :D

Well after reading this, I'm going to need some help interpreting where in the Bible these people got THESE ideas?

Cut from this page, if you want to see the whole thing...
http://www.unity.org/about-us/our-philosophy

Their position on:

GOD

"God is Spirit, the loving source of all that is. God is the one power, all good, everywhere present, all wisdom. God is divine energy, continually creating, expressing and sustaining all creation. In God, we live and move and have our being. In Unity, some other ways we speak of God are Life, Light, Love, Substance, Principle, Law and Universal Mind"

Prove to me where in the Bible I could prove that wrong?... Or is it right?

Ok, next..their view on the..

BIBLE

"Unity founders Charles and Myrtle Fillmore studied the Bible as history and allegory and interpreted it as a metaphysical representation of humankind's evolutionary journey toward spiritual awakening. In addition, Unity recognizes that the Bible is a complex collection of writings compiled over many centuries. We honor the writings as reflecting the understanding and inspiration of the writers at the time they were written. The Bible continues to be a valuable spiritual resource for us"

Is that their interpretation of the Bible? Or the truth?

And JESUS...

"We believe that Jesus expressed his divine potential and sought to show humankind how to express ours as well. We see Jesus as a master teacher of universal truths and as our Way Shower. In Unity, we use the term Christ to mean the divinity in humankind. Jesus is the great example of the Christ in expression"

I don't even understand half of that. :p

How are people in a church like this supposed to find the truth? Where is ANY of THAT in scripture?

That's some scary doctrine right there; I feel like challenging those 3 statements, or we can do one at a time....

There are easier things on their website to disagree with :) eg. People are inherently good. It equates us to Jesus as it says there is a spark of divinity in us like there was in him. It describes Jesus as only a master teacher. Which makes no sense because of who he claimed to be. If he was a really good example and master teacher than why did he claim to be the son of God, that would mean he was insane or a liar rather than a master teacher.

The site is mostly rubbish. It focuses on a very individualistic new age experience of God, that we are good and by being good that is heaven. They don't seem to have room for our real nature and the need for salvation.
