Precision Old Red Barn

someone did post the photo of the one I was talking about. after the reviews, I am happy we didn't get it!

Yes, this is the coop that I have for my 6 hens. I had to build a pen connecting to it because there obviously wasn't enough room for them to stay in it all day. I think it is an okay coop, but we have had some problems with the slide-bar locks not working (either too hard to lock or opening by itself). I am also irritated because there is a 1/2 inch gap between the nesting boxes and the rest of the coop that lets cold air in under the chickens, and lets all of the bedding fall out. Plus, it is not well insulated, so I am going to have to do some DIY work to insulate it before winter comes.

I paid around $300 for this, which I now realize was way too much for something that is so shoddy.

Can you share a picture of the coop with the hens in it? I have 4 hens and was thinking of getting this coop...as it is the largest in my price range

Build or Try craigslist - this coop is not worth the $. You will have to build a base anyway, even if you buy the coop. My roof is warping already.

I have a precision coop - the cape cod I think. I am building my new, real, coop and hope to throw this one away as soon as possible. Too small for even 2 hens I think.

Don't throw it out!!.....with your new building skills you can patch it up and use it as a brooder and/or isolation and/or sick coop.

Well, it's actually already a spare. The first Precision coop came with some split boards and to their credit, the customer service people said they'd send me a replacement board. They sent me a whole second coop. It's obviously one that didn't pass inspection because there a LOT of split boards and issues, but I will keep one as a quarantine coop or brooder as needed, but only for that.

I have this coop too. I had to put plastic on the side of the nesting boxes to keep the rain from coming in. I am OK with this for a summertime coop, but I am really worried about it for the winter.
