Precision Old Red Barn

I own this coop now for 4 hens. Has anyone had any luck modifying it to raise it off the ground? Maybe adding legs and adding more chicken wire to the bottom? Just not too pleased with it the way it currently is. Also, I've noticed that the bottom of my nesting boxes are looking warped, maybe from a leaky roof. Is this one worth modifying or should I just start again from scratch?

I bought this coop from tsc. It was easy enough to put together. Like others have stated, pretty flimsy, no floor and very low to the ground. So low that it was very hard to clean. My solution was to do research on this forum and build my own. Easer to clean much bigger and will last at least 10 X longer. Save your money and build your own in the first place

Hi! I bought this coop as a groupon, and while I will probably build my own at some point in the future, we modified it and it's working well. Here is a picture:

We took 2X4's and built a box (much like you would make a laundry machine stand. We put in a floor on hinges that we can lower for easy cleaning, and then hook back up. We put in a ramp for them to get down to the under coop. We still have to put up hardware cloth around the run, but we attached the two together so they can come and go from the coop to the run as they please.

Now - I just have to decide how I'm goign to winterize it. I bought some vinyl cloth, I may just cover most of the screen part in that for the winter.

I have put mine up on pallets. Then stuffed the spaces of the pallets with wood chips and layered straw on top of that. I stacked straw bales around the entire outside and will tarp the front entrance during the winter months. I have a heat light that is hung from the ceiling and will turn on automatically at 20 degrees and only stay one until it's 30 degrees. I hope this will be enough for them.

It's such a flimsy designed coop and I am honestly disappointed in it, but it's what I have right now, so we will make it work! :)
