Predator deterrent/dogs in general?

Yeah - I don't believe the 'hybrid vigor' either. Another reason we quit breeding is because of the bloat issues in the line we were using - I wouldn't wish that on anybody

. Luckily we saved all but one with surgery.

I have seen many more possums and racoons either on the side of the road dead or while driving, same with deer. So we know they are all around. Just want something to be "around" and to claim our property as theirs. We need one that is ok in the snow as well as heat. I know we will be able to get one from the shelter. When our very old sheltie passes, I will begin my search. It's been great help getting input from this forum. What I would really love is a large shepard or shepard mix. Since we will be adding our goats most likely after the dog, I'm hoping that would be an issue.
