Predators and pests, both describe my neighbors

Maybe you could borrow a game cam from some one.

I think you have a two legged predator.

Get another rooster, if it's legal to have I would not be without one--- ever!

Electric fence or just get the little one dollar signs that say you have and electric fence.

Your OP states this rooster crowed all day & most of the night.
No wonder the neighbors are angry.

The advice you've been getting is to get another rooster(s).
- That's fine if you are looking to escalate the situation. Are you?
- Also fine to use the rooster as bait if you have cameras to catch the intruder(s).
Is this the plan?

If the answer is No to either of the above, skip the rooster.
There are much better ways to prevent a cat attack than to have a rooster which is positively going to cause friction between you and the neighbors.
You got along without a roo before, you can do it again!

I'm always amazed in situations like this that the advice is to basically up the ante.
A push turns into a shove. A shove turns into a fistfight... Right?
Be cool and calm and do the right thing.

Spottedtail that does not give OP's neighbors the right to come on OP's property, enter a secured building and steal and possibly kill his rooster.
Also all the harassmant that OP has had to deal with is also not right.
So what if OP's rooster crows, that's what they do.

Maybe if OP's neighbor(s) were nice people they could have come and knocked on the door and discussed the rooster, but since they didn't, they deserve no respect since they also give none.
So how long to you think OP needs to deal with all these false reports before it is time to fight back?

Wow, that is awful. I am glad I have good immediate neighbors. I worry about antagonizing already ill-acting neighbors. Some people just aren't rational and will retaliate. What if they resort to poisoning? I would hold off on the roo until you know he will be safe. Do the padlocks, get a cheap game camera, file reports and post No Trespassing signs everywhere. If they enter your property and these are posted clearly, they are in violation. Have your camera (regular one) ready for a sneak shot and use that in a report with date/time on photo. Maybe consider an electric fence, I don't know your set up, but that deterred the neighbor kids from sneaking into my horse pasture to visit with the horses. I did it not to hurt the kids, but prevented them from getting accidently hurt by the horses. I just don't know....people do NOT have the right to enter onto your property for any reason.....EVER. Period.

I am going to get some guinea chicks to raise up, I love their voices, but I know the neighbors will not. I think I will wait on the roo until i can make sure it will be safe.


Other birds that make noise are peacocks and ringneck pheasants, if you want to go to the extreme. I live in the middle of my small town and in the spirit of good neighbors, I have 2 hens, no rooster. In your case, you are well within your rights to have a rooster or anything else you want. I would post an official -looking sign stating the premises are under camera survellience that is posted offsite (to keep the rascals from ransacking your place trying to find your recorder). That might help even though you can't afford a game camera right now.

If the OP lives on a farm and is allowed to have animals then why should the OP not have them. I live in town and I have a rooster and I will keep him. I think that the neighbors broke the law not the OP I understand getting along with people but since he lives in the country then you deal with animals. I think the OP should get a few more hens. another rooster or two. I hope you can figure out what happened to your rooster and I would get some padlocks and some signs no trespassing and one that shows your house and land is being protected by a off-site security company.

When co-workers of my dad's bought a ranch, he plased numerous signs along the exterior fencing: Posted By Warden. Very official sounding; their last name was Warden

A sign shop can provide you with inexpensive and professional looking security signs that state that the premises are under surveillance, implying security cameras. If you look up the term, it can simply mean that it is being deliberately watched. YOU are watching, and I recommend you ask the police to make more frequent rounds on your srteet, watching out for our home in particular.

I am thinking of somthing I heard from one of my neighbors as a idea Kinda like the traps but some boards with nails sticking up covered by leaves and such put up your NO traspassing signs all around and if some one gets a rusty nail in there foot it will be there own fault and hopefully they are up to date with there tetnas shot , I also like the poo pit idea Now that would Be so histarically Funny Right (But officer I fell in a poo pit while I was traspassing )
