http://chubbymealworms.com I bought sixty lbs ( 4 15 lb bags) for $297.00 on Halloween Day. They had a 15% coupon so they were on sale. Nice heavy duty zip lock bags. I have 4 hens. I feed with 2 dishes in the morning. A handful of meal worms each. I weighed one of the bags today. 14.4 so they seem to go pretty far for me. And you can get them cheaper by setting up a subscription. And you get rewards etc for future purchases. Boy do they smell nice when I open the bag. I keep them in the house and just fill a gallon zip lock bag for daily use. Push the air out when you re zip them and they stay fresh. $4.95 a pound compare to what you are paying and gasoline and I think you will see they are cheaper even without the coupon.Hey guys! I keep buying the big bag of mealworms from TSC for my duck but my hedgehog shares the mealworms too so they're getting eaten quicker and quicker! I have 2 local TSC stores, both 40 minutes away in opposite directions. I usually only like making the trip to get a large bag of feed and I hate having to go in between for worms. There's no bait stores or any other pet stores near me that sell them. I am super into fish and have been to EVERY pet store within a 100 mile radius within the past 6 months. I would like to buy bulk order of dried mealworms online. I want to buy BULK though because I go through a lot of worms and don't want to need them for a while. Buying random mealworms offline though isn't the safest, most appealing option in my head though so if anyone has any recommendations for mealworms that are healthy or that you trust, recommendations would be awesome! Thanks for the help everyone! (Just to make it clear I feed dried mealworms so they can't hurt the hedgie even tho the duck likes them dried or alive!)
Also what are your duckies favorite snacks? I want to introduce something new to Gil. She's tried greens, mealworms, quack snacks (an all flock snack from TSC), peas and she's trying corn for the first time today! I try to just feed snacks that I can prepare as a healthy treat for all the animals because I own a mini zoo that I bet no one on here even knows about! Maybe I'll make the link to "my flock" a little thread on my private zoo so everyone knows why I am always home with the duck. (cleaning animal pens is a day in, day out, all day kind of thing.) Anyways, thanks for the advice!
ETA: Free shipping and the 60 lbs is still your best buy. $5.83/lb. Get on their mailing list ( e-mail) for discounts. I just got lucky on that Halloween deal. Also, they are gonna start having USA grown mealworms but much more $$$$. The one's now are coming from China. I messaged them about how much more $$$ they were for those of us on a fixed income (SS) and they said the price would probably come down once they start selling in bulk. I don't think they will get rid of their Chinese connection though.
