Preferred method of treating for mites?

By the time the weather warms up, I order Dutchies, the natural enemy of mytes and put those in the coop. They actively seek out the mytes and eat them (and some other pests as well). And I use diatomic earth in their sandbath. No need for chemicals, no chemical traces in the eggs and no danger to other creatures other than the mytes.
Dutchies may not be available in North America though (it is a Dutch remedy, hence the name):p
I tried googling these and got the urban dictionary for pot, a nickname for people from the netherlands and bread. What the heck is it?:th

Im using chrome but not a laptop. My connection is really slow so maybe it just didnt translate due to loading issues...
There was popup asking if I wanted to translate, I had to click on it, but translation was instantaneous. DSL pretty fast here..at least this morning.

so, can you just tell us what a "dutchy" is?

i know that cedar shavings aren't supposed to be good for chickens respiratory systems but i sprinkle a thin layer beneath the spruce shavings in their nest boxes. in ten years, i've not found parasites or noticed the girls scratching unduly. nor do any of them have problems with their lungs.

I use permethrin as last call cause I have a bunch of animal and a couple are quite sensitive and like to sneak into the coop at times so when I've seen no mites for months I just give my birds garlic mint at in there water or food so it puts off mites due to apparently impacting their blood taste
