Preparing to set call and pekin duck eggs! Hatch day should be March 4, 2021 if all goes well!

Hi friends! For some strange reason I always stop receiving notifications whenever a thread gets way up there on replies. I hate I missed so many adorable pictures!!! I came to ask about angel wing and at what point you start wrapping. One of mine has a bit of the hitchhiker look but it's only 3.5 weeks old so it's just some pins pushing the down out and won't it lose these feathers fairly quickly for their nuptial plumage coming in? I feel like I should just keep a close eye on it, but I wanted to ask the experts. It may be just the pins coming in and getting acclimated to the difference. I don't know.

Another question is if anyone has noticed feather growth giving any indication of gender? Three out of 4 had tail feathers before Faith (the runt) even started getting them. Faith seems to run a little bit behind the others, but seems perfectly fine. She's incredibly shy and just feminine. I keep thinking that she reminds me of my Tom (my female Buff Duck) in her personality. I find myself curious about the gender of my cuties constantly! I'll think one of them is sounding awfully quite and then it's just like the others. They're going to be whatever they're going to be and I'm perfectly fine with that but I'm just so darned curious!!! I'm going to drive myself 🤪 crazy!

I'll get some pictures tomorrow
I'm in the same boat you are, but I've noticed the same thing. I'm thinking it's probably just their big girl feathers coming in and making their floof look wonky.

This isn't a very good picture at all, but this is one very busy duckling. This one is wide open and has to be the first at EVERYTHING. Incredible personality. Notice it's left wing. Even over the span of the past few days, they've changed a lot. This wing has only veered outwards a little more. I'm still not sure if I should treat with wrapping or continue to watch closely. Any thoughts? I'll try to get better pictures. They had a poop-a-poolooza in the tub last night. I had to drain it before snapping a picture 🥴 Sometimes I wonder if they just love Poop Soup 🤢

This is #2 Layla (still working on a masculine name that doesn't steer too far from what it's used to, in case it's a boy)

@HeatherKellyB and @Overo Mare those babies are absolutely precious! What sweeties!

Look at little Layla, she/he looks so different! Is she/he a snowy? :love

Oh my, Butters and Roxy are growing up so fast too! They are darling! Roxy really is a neat color! ❤️

Yes I do notice on one of Cami’s babies it looks like the start of angel wing so I’m monitoring it. It might just be how the feathers are growing in. Everyone else is looking good. I’ll try to get some pictures.

Thank you so much!
I'm not sure. I'm not familiar with the color variations at all, or the colors from the parent stock. I always ask @WVduckchick 😊 The one thing I do know for sure is that I am so grateful they're here! They bring me so much joy. I believe Call Ducks as a breed, are good at that kind of stuff 😍
