Preparing to set call and pekin duck eggs! Hatch day should be March 4, 2021 if all goes well!

I bought some white call duck eggs on Ebay. I only got 7, and clear at the end of hatch now a couple died right before absorbing the yolk. :( The whole batch before this all died. It's been sad and disappointing.
I have 3 call duck eggs left. 2 had internally pipped so I started the hatching procedure, but one hadn't after 24 hours yesterday and I could clearly see it's beak in some yellow fluid in the pointy end. I quickly opened the pointy end and used a napkin to soak up the clear yellowish liquid around its beak and completely dry it. There was no blood.
It started chirping. It's still alive so far. If it lives I'll call it Miracle. However, if any of the 3 live they seem to be miracles. I really want these to survive and thrive.

White call duck are very hard to breed. I just had 5 eggs from my own ducks and only one survived. Their bloodline is quite thin (is that the way to say it in english?) So the breeding process comes very strict. I had them in a borrought incubator, so didn't know it inside out. My other eggs hatched almost all.. Maybe the transportation was to much...

So sorry your hatch has been disappointing. That’s how my last hatch was. It’s so sad when they get so close only to die. :(
I really hope that all three of the ones you have left hatch safely. :hugs

@FunnyfarmMidwest my black bibbed has her babies out for Mother’s Day. I just saw one empty shell yesterday, so I was surprised to see 6 ducklings!

@WVduckchick I’ve been thinking about you and your little call duckling with the deformed bill! What a tiny sweetie! Is it eating and drinking ok? :fl

So far it seems to be doing good. They haven’t eaten a whole lot yet, but I weighed them today so I can monitor if it gains on track with its hatchmate.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful mothers! :hugs

I’m lucky enough to spend the day with my own mother and my grandmother! I also get to see all the mama cows and their calves today! Squeegee the call duck is spending hers with her adopted babies. ❤️ :highfive:View attachment 2660167
:love Happy Mothers Day to everyone!
