You were joking about ac, but you might look into a small mountable fan to get air circulating on hot days; I've found one at walmart...a cheap model...that I'm actually going to ceiling mount (it's a wall mount model) for summer time. Also, curtains or miniblinds over half your windows will help block sun's rays...

Don't paint the outside. The wood is lovely. Protect it and leave it natural. So pretty.
And I love the wall color inside.
Your chickens are going to love roosting in front of that window.

Check Craigslist for used window awnings. You can also build wooden overhangs outside the windows as well. You seem pretty handy. It might help cut down the sun exposure to the windows and adding a fan as the top near your vents, pointed outward to suck the hot air out.-like an exhaust fan!

Super awesome coop!! You *should* be proud!! 7 weeks? That really doesn't sound too bad for as nice as it turned out! I need to start on the big one NOW because I'm sure my day-old babies will outgrow their little one in a hurry.

Beautiful! I agree with not painting the wood- just using a sealant. It looks too pretty to cover with paint. Maybe just paint the trim.
