Pretty sure a raccoon tried to eat my duck through enclosure (graphic)

@Miss Lydia ok, so the part of the wound that I thought was dying off, did. I have been doing dressing changes once a day now for the past three days. Tonight I let her have a bath and she took it upon herself to rip the dead portion off(was pretty sure it was ether a muscle or tendon). Really grossed me out too. Guess I'll be doing dressing changes forever. I had been putting santyl ointment(enzymatic debridement that doesn't harm granulating tissue) on the last three nights as well. So now I get to figure out how and what to dress new wound with. She is doing really well and no infection so far, I can't really complain.
How about Vetericyn spray for wounds and infections ? I've even seen Dr. Pol use it on wounds on horses etc. I imagine this will fill in now that she has taken off the dead stuff? You are a trooper staying with her through this and she is a trooper for hanging in there and getting through this. In other words your both amazing.

@Miss Lydia So I just thought I'd throw in an update. Brownie is still in the house and I'm still doing daily dressing changes, but she is doing great. Besides missing a big chunk of wing and feathers, she has most if not all function back, holds the wing in proper placement, and started laying again a couple weeks ago. I'm thinking it should be completely healed in the next week or two.

@malia thank you so much for updating she sounds wonderful and great to hear she is almost healed now. Awesome to hear she has full function of her wing too. And eggs to say thank you for all the great care you have given her.

It's taken time but you stuck with it and she is almost there now!!

I havent' been on BYC for a while, so I thought I'd check in and see how your girl's doing. Sounds like an almost perfect recovery. I'm happy for you! I'll be coming your way if I ever have any injured birds!
