I have three 3-4 week old chicks I got from a local chicken swap on Saturday. TSC only had non-medicated chick feed so that’s what I bought. I did some research to find out the medication in medicated chick feed is amprolium. I have Corid, so can I just dose them with that to have the same effect?

I’m nervous about them getting coccidiosis because they came from strange farms and I don’t know the conditions they were in before I bought them. One of them is kind of more tired than the others and I’m nervous about her getting/being sick. She still eats and drinks though. Haven’t checked her poops. What should I do?

They are not out in the coop yet, they are in the garage in a bunny cage for now. I will get our second coop set up for them in a few days but I believe them to be too young to introduce to my flock.

TSC ships, and the website usually has everything in stock. The chicks won't be exposed to coccidia until they are in contact with soil, so order medicated chick feed from TSC now and until it arrives, keep them in the garage and feed them the regular feed. No need to dose them with Corid while you wait. It usually arrives pretty quickly.

Any suggestions on what I should do with the non-medicated food then? I have a 20 lb bag of it, opened.

Save it. Keep them on medicated feed until they've been outside for about a month. After that, you can give them the 20lbs bag of unmedicated feed. If you keep it well closed and in a cool, dry area (like a basement) that doesn't get huge temperature swings, it will be fine to use in another month or two.
