Private messages?

Why doesn't this forum have a message box for private messages?
(i.e. You could send a message to someone who would see it in their BYC inbox when they logged on)

That would be nice one of our harley boards have it. Lets you know as soon as you log in that you have messages.

Nifty would have an answer but as far as I know, each feature costs some amount more to add to the site and thus requires more money that just isn't there.

I've been looking into adding PM for... um... about 10 months.

This is a free forum, so we have to allocate resources to the most important places first. This includes keeping the forum up and running, keeping performance zippy fast, and making sure there are daily redundant backups of all the data.

The Staff discussed the pro's and con's of adding PM functionality about 4 months ago and we decided to hold off. I'm not making any promises, but I've been looking into ways to provide PM on the forum and believe I may have a good solution.

I'll definitely keep you posted.
