I know that in Hawaii about 1/2 of all parking spaces were reserved for compact cars. Though, I think that had more to do with the idea of being able to fit more parking spaces into a small lot. I've seen expectant mother and "family" parking spaces (reserved for people with young children) never hybrid spaces though.....

I dont disagree with pollution and running alternative fuels or smog or any of it. Also i am aware of other ways to generate electric ie the hoover ****. Look I agree with solar wind and hydro think its a great alternative to fossil fuel made electric. But we are not even close. But having cars today that are just getting 30mpg when in 1988 I owned a nissan sentra that got close to 40 is a bit strange to me. As far as diesel the new clean diesel are clean burning and clean idle. I try to run a wvo/wmo in my old clunker to help with waste oil. I just dont believe that electric cars are the answer today. They are expensive to purchase and expensive to maintain and they dont get close to the milage that most people drive unless you live in a big city and drive around the block to work, then again you are running on fossil fuel for the remaining trip.

I wasn't knocking green thinking just the car/oil industry. I am on backyard chickens to help myself become more self sustaining

You are right...electric cars are NOT technologically advanced enough to be the car of today. But they may be tomorrow and for sure, the cars of tomorrow will not be running on fossil fuels, nor, do I think they will be diesels. Hey, no way I personally will buy an electric car for my use.
