Problem making decision

Glad you went ahead and got some results with his bumblefoot surgery...hopefully he will be more comfortable in a day or so...it was frustrating for me with Ruby..I got a few strands out and that took over an hour..I was so worried for her...she fell asleep and was snoring when I uncovered her head after the event!

Yes...Silkies have a special place in your heart...Maman was so wonderful and always came to me whenever I called her name...none of my other Silkies have the same character as her...sadly her "Husband" Papa Silkie died two months after Maman..he was never the same after she was gone...he would go to her house daily and call for her when she was ill..I'd pick her up and cuddle her and Papa would try jumping up to reach her...I was lucky to have them both for 6 years... Maman has given me so many chicks in her time..she even hatched a duckling egg...big surprise for her!

I guess my animals are as weird as me!

Hope you boy feels better after his surgery...maybe he would like some grapes...grapes seem to be the standard gift after surgery in the UK...don't know if it is the same in the USA...

I think Kathy does one handed necropsies with the other hand on a sandwich.

I gave roo an aspirin. He's getting around on one leg.

My silkie went to a lab and I got the initial report. Anyone interested? They sent the blood out.

I just don't know. The last chicken I sent a few months ago died from Aspergillosis , chronic and system wide. Marek's pcr negative. Now this one doesn't seem to have any symptoms,, but I'll see what the blood test reveals.

I've had so many in 4 years die of Marek's symptoms, and 10 chicks I had 4 years ago died with gasping and paralysis over a 4 week period. (euthanized). I've had others with paralysis, wasting, loss of depth perception. The beginning of this year, I had 2 roos hatch by a silkie, unvaccinated, and at 8 months, they limped then had paralysis.

Geez..if it wasn't for bad luck you would have no luck at all..I am so much in admiration for your dedication to all of your flock..I do so hope she did not have Mareks...it is one of those fearful words that none of us would ever want to hear of in our flock...I am still not sure of what Ruby died of and now I have a Silkie chick that is having difficulty balancing...I am treating for wry neck but I am concerned that it may have more serious problems.....your link about Mareks is something I will always be alert for in the future of my flock...it was so informative and it would be wonderful if everyone who has chickens read about the disease.

Hope your Rooster is feeling better tomorrow after his surgery!
