Problem with Neighbors Dog

My neighbors have a boxer that keeps coming into my yard and using the potty, getting into my trash, and now, I believe, killed one of my best layers. All I found is feathers. I went up to discuss this with them and she assured me she would speak with her son, who's dog it is, and apologized. Well, had to work today and came home and found fresh tracks in the snow from said dog, not to mention yesterday, I hear my beagle carrying on and look out the window to see the dog on my front porch!!

So here is what I propose. Do dogs like exlax? Maybe some stool softners in some biscuits. Why? He's currently being kept inside because of the cold. Normally, he is outside on a chain with a heat lamp in his dog house. Im just fed up. Not only is thier dog house on my property after I asked them to keep it off< about a foot over> but they obviously arent going to keep him away. Im upset about the chicken, but I cant say for sure he did it because all I found was feathers and when I saw him running up the hill, no chicken in his mouth. For all I know, a hawk got it and its just a coincidence. But then again, he was on my property and a chicken is missing. I figured if I gave him something to give him the squirts, because I did casually mention that I threw things in the trash that might not agree with his digestive problem, once he left a few nasty messes on thier carpet, they might get the hint.

I did talk to the sheriff and he suggested I speak with them and the mother did, as I mention, apologize for not being the neighbor she used to be< this was before they decided to be bullys over my putting a fence up because they felt I was taking thier property<which the survey said I wasnt, long story>.
Anyway, what would you do? I dont want to shoot him, althought Ive considered it. But around here, wouldnt be able to do the last S as everyone would know who did it. Plus, its not the dogs fault he has buttheads for owners.

Any suggestions?

Put up your fence. When they complain, give them a copy of the survey and the number to code enforcement.

Agree with putting up the fence if you have not already done so. MOVE the doghouse that is on your property onto theirs, and fence the area, even if it is step-in posts and twine or something similar. Research your state laws on predatory dogs, and on leash laws for your state, county & city. There are very few places where leash laws of one sort or another do not exist. Document dates & times the dog is on yoru property and make a nuisance of yourself by calling animal control or the police (as fits the situation--if the dog is EVER people aggressive, call the police). Make a nuisance of yourself calling the neighbor to keep their dog contained. Might think about catching the dog and painting a bull's eye target on it, then sending it home.

I would NOT feed it anything that could be considered poisonous. In many places poisoning anything other than rodents is illegal, and if you deliberately feed a food that causes physical symptoms, it could be considered poisoning. You need to stay on the right side of the law.

If you make their dog more of an inconvenience of them then they'll be even less inclined to keep him on their property. I fail to see the logic.

Fence him out. If it isn't their dog bothering your birds it could just as easily be another animal.

We don't have neighbors as such (we live on a ranch with another employee about 300 yards away), but I just could not live next door to somebody without a fence to keep my animals in and theirs out. I don't see how anyone with animals (other than cats) can practically live without fencing.

All exlax will do is give the dog the runs...
Wont stop the idiot neighbor from letting the dog run loose.
Dont be cruel to the dog for its owner letting it run free.
Go talk to the neighbor AGAIN..be FIRM. and dont mince words about it.

Good fences make good neighbors.

You have spoken with the neightbors, giving them a chance to work
it out. Keep a record.

One more talk.

Then act accordingly. Animal control, police department...whoever you
need to call in your area.

Keep a record, but also be fair. Are your pets ever on their land? Fair for
the gander, fair for the goose...

* I'm curious...how does one "dispute " their property lines?

Have they no ideal of what they were when the land was bought?
Whether they were there before you or after you...the property lines
stayed the same?

But if it's you putting the fence up and paying for it...surely you have a
current survey?
