i just got an ssd to upgrade my laptop and have a problem. i installed the new ssd, but couldn't get onto my account here. i seem to have forgot my password. this site has the most unforgiving password retrieval of any i've seen. i've requested a password change through the 'forgot password' option several times and never get an email. i had to put my old hard drive back in just to get on (the pass is saved in firefox). i thought i might be able to log on with this drive and change it from there, but when i go to the change password feature it wants my old password first?! if i'm logged on doesn't that verify who i am? if not, how does it make sense that the forgot password method of password changing doesn't require me to be logged in on OR to know the old password, that is IF it works and i get the email like i'm supposed to? how does it make sense to have the password change method you can use while logged on require the current password when the method used to change it while not logged on doesn't?
what do i have to do to change my password so i can put my ssd back in finally? it's like my account is being held hostage even while i have access to it.
