Problem with pvc feeder

You could build a no waste feeder. I made a 5 gallon but you can use a lot of different containers, Totes, barrels, It depends on how much feed you it to hold. They work great!

I will second this. I LOVE(d) my no waste feeder. I didn't have a rat problem though. Trundle feeders and peck-o-matic style feeders are also great. Hope this helps!

I wanted one of those originally but my husbands did not want to buy a different/larger (don't know what it's called) hole cutter :he :lau
I love him and he's bees so supportive and buit my coop so I gave home this one and found a different feeder

I literally traced the PVC pipe with a sharpie marker and then use a box cutter to annoyingly cut out the circle a little smaller than the marker. Worked like a charm! Then I ran a bead of silicon around the edge to keep out any moisture! I got my bucket from the Wal-mart bakery. They get their frosting in large buckets and will give you them free!

That's cool that you improvised! :highfive:

My wally WON'T give up free buckets from the bakery dept. I've asked.

Changing the 90degree to two 45 degree turns with a piece in the middle doesn't work either. We tried that. I have to go shake it down every day. That doesn't bother me though. I'm down there daily anyway, gets me in the run with the chickens and I don't know what else I'd want to use
I agree completely that it's your elbows. The food won't flow around that. It gets jammed up. Don't know if 45's will fix it or not. But maybe! :)

Oh darn, I don't mind moving mine down to much and they have feeders in the run that does not need help :)

I think the trick is to keep the feed as close to the base of the pipe as possible. Here's one of my feeders that works well with all dry feeds. I used 4" thin-wall pvc pipe with a tee connected to two elbows, which can be adjusted up or down according to the size of the birds. One of these feeds 4 at one time, up to eight if they are polite about waiting their turn!
