Problem with pvc feeder

Wow, you must have a lot of chickens. My 5 gallon will last 10 - 12 days with 11 chickens. It sounds like you could use a 30 gallon drum.

I go through 100 to 150 lbs a month and I have 20 chickens. 6 of them are only a month old the rest are 8 months does that seem like a lot? They are pretty active and never stop scratching around.

100-150 pounds/month??? Sounds like you're feeding a lot more critters than just chickens!

You're doing ok on your feed/bird ratio if you have standard sized chickens. A good rule of thumb I use is I figure 1/4 pound or less of feed per bird per day. If you multiply your 20 chooks times 1/4 lbs., or .25, times 30 days, you get 150 pounds per month. Probably a little less is being eaten by your young ones. If you buy more than 150# of feed in a month, then you can look into whether you have other critters helping themselves.

The other factors are my birds are known to eat more than other types EE's and Ameraucanas tend to eat more than other birds.
