She definitely perked up this afternoon. I gave another dose of charcoal just in case it wasn’t a coincidence. She was super active and was fluffing up her nest box (she laid an egg) and was preening herself.
I told hubby to pick up generic 2% miconazole cream and he picked up Micatin :: sigh :: . He said he could go back into town tomorrow to get the generic at another store. But I'd rather not wait that long if you guys think this is ok. I tried searching the ingredients (the non active ones) to find out if they were safe and didn't get very far.
I saw you mentioned feeding organic feed, just take a good look at the vitamin levels in the feed, they can have a challenge getting enough vitamins in the feed and still be certified organic.

Well she had another more watery poop before bed (though not as bad as the last few days), so I think the activated charcoal is helping, but more temporary. It definitely helped her feel better from how she was feeling this morning. I think I'll give her a dose of AC first thing tomorrow morning and then I'll dose the anti fungal cream when my hubby gets back from town with it.
She near about gave me a heart attack this evening though, I walked into the room and there was bright red blood on the puppy pads! I couldn't see where it was coming from at first and I thought it was internal bleeding. Turns out she's been feeling so decent she's been doing a bunch of preening and opened up a scab from one of her wounds from the dog attack. There hadn't been a scab when I stopped putting ointment on it back around the beginning of Nov, but I had noticed it a few days ago. That added some excitement to my evening I didn't need lol. I got it all cleaned up and slapped antibiotic ointment on it and put her to bed (lights out) so she doesn't pick at it. I tried bandaging it, but that really restricted her movement and I wanted to her to be able to move out of her poop areas at night.
She's bright this morning and not panting like yesterday. So a big improvement there. Crop first thing wasn't empty (it was down fairly significantly from bedtime though), but also wasn't soft and squishy like it has been. It was fairly hard, but moldable. Maybe what's called a doughy crop? It felt like it was all grit and shavings. I gave her a tablespoon of water & activated charcoal with a little bit of grain to make it more enticing and I massaged the crop a little after that.
The plan for today is to continue to push/encourage water and start the Miconazole cream later once we're 4 hrs away from the activated charcoal dose. Also continuing with the vit b2, away from the activated charcoal.
Well the anti fungal meds have kicked in, her crop is SO much smaller. Her crop the last couple mornings has been doughy and increasing in size. Yesterday I did ALL the things lol, yogurt in her water, coconut oil, massaging frequently. I even saw you could dose the anti fungal meds three times, so yesterday and today I'm going to do three doses of the anti fungal meds and then likely continue at 2 doses for the rest of the 7 days.
She's had some gurgling (almost like mucus in her throat - that I read can be from sour crop) that was worse yesterday at times (seemed to be affecting her breathing a little), but that thankfully has improved today. It's still there, but not nearly as bad.
I did notice yesterday that she was getting a pressure sore on her bad leg, so we made a sling this morning. She doesn't love it, we had it down so her feet could rest on the floor and she managed to completely get out of it! So I've raised it up and since the picture I've moved the posts closer together so it cocoons her more and her toes can just barely touch the ground. We aren't leaving her alone while in the sling, so me or my son are hanging out with her.
Her bad foot seems less curled today and she was able to actually get herself completely off the ground for more than just hopping. She was kinda just sitting for maybe 10 seconds with her stomach off the ground (she hasn't been able to do that for a few days). So her better leg is definitely stronger and maybe her bad leg is starting to improve? I read it can be a bit of a longer haul to improve the vit b deficiency, but it would nice to see some little improvements to know we're on the right track.
Her poops are getting better and better. She didn't poop much yesterday, but none of them were watery (a few were mushy) and they just got more solid and normal looking as time has gone on.
Overnight her poops were better and she's pooping more today with, nice smaller normal looking poops.
Overnight poops
One of her poops from this morning, they have all been similar to this.
She drank a lot yesterday, but is less eager today.
My plan for today is no activated charcoal, and do 3 doses of the anti fungal meds (I got the monistat 7 day suppositories, 1/3 of a suppository = 1 dose) and also make sure she's getting all the vit b doses in. The last couple days because of timing she's gotten less than I would have like (both days she got the full 3cc's of the poultry cell though). Also lots of water with yogurt (because she prefers that to plain water) and wet down food.
If her crop is completely empty tomorrow I'll lower the anti fungals down to 2 per day. I also ordered digestive enzymes that will be arriving tomorrow, so I could add that in if needed. But I was really happy with how much her crop improved from yesterday morning to this morning.
She's currently sleeping in her sling. I'll keep updating every couple days, I know I've found searching the forum and what has worked for others was super helpful for me.
