Problems with neighbors

although I sympathize with your situation, but the simple solution is to keep your animals on your property. If you can't' then get rid of them. That's it really.

That was so totally not helpful. You can do better than that!!!

Definately get the camera set up. Catch him harrassing your birds, make sure the date and time stamp is set, and report him.

Sounds like a sicko troublemaker.

Also get a camera security box too so if he see's it he cannot steal it and deny taking it.

Get more then one camera too.

wow I didn't know my jerk neighbor had cloned himself.. hahhahah.. I have the same problem neighbors.. Animal control loves me.. the sherriff's office is on her side.. but since its the animal control officer that has jurisdiction over animals..

if im not mistaken at the end of your post you stated he is going to build a fence that is critter proof... ya! you go with that dude... wait till he builds this fence and keep your ducks.. let him go thru the cost of keeping animals out.. the gunnies are considered livestock and ya know what they do that.. they eat grass on the other side of the fence.. there are bumper stickers about how the grass is greener on the other side.. hahah..

unfortuanlty he will always be a horrible neighbor.. get him on film.. the cameras for game hunters works great.. it is motion activated and camouflage... and your probably like me and dont want to rock the boat or be the same but untill you start reporting him to the police as well for harassment of livestock and of your self.. hes gonna keep it up.. and when you think wow its been a whole month... thats when he'll strike again.. also get to know your animal control officers and the laws concerning your animals.. knowledge goes a lot farther than his complaining about what he doesn't know.. also did you cal the officer back and tell him that the guy confessed that the poop in the pool really didn't happen.. if you can get him to say that again on film.. you have him for false report.. you have to stand up for yourself and do it.. cause like you said he has nothing but time to come up with his next pet peeve..

good luck )O(

Poor you! I had a horrible neighbor who terrorized us--I knew it was her because it started after she moved in, and ended when she left. Psycho....and she babysat other people's kids...

Then some renters moved into another house and stole the entire wheel, and lug nuts off my car. No way to prove it was them. That's when I spent some money on a four camera system with a dvr. It is awesome, and has ir for nighttime, although it doesn't see far enough at night so we put up the energy saving bulb spot lights pointing into the dark spots by the cars. I love having them because DH was working nights and if something made a weird noise I could turn on the tv and see what was going on outside.

We have them visible, and I believe they are a real deterrent to people with ill intent.

It sounds to me as if your neighbor is doing things on purpose to allow and entice your birds into his yard now. What kind of fence do you have on the border with him? Did you examine the new hole to see if maybe he helped it along? Was there any sign of a trail that your animals were using it for any time?

And if he is doing things to harass your birds when they are on your property, he is probably breaking the law, so if it were me, I would really want to see what goes on when I'm not home... If you can't put out money for cameras, perhaps you could pretend to go to work as usual, but sneak home and hide out with a camera.

The guy now has a bee in his bonnet and I'm thinking he will not relent...just like my psycho lady...maybe they are related

I think it is just the female duck that went through the fence. She had never done it before Friday, I am outside enough to know what my animals are up to. He is constantly calling about something or another though. As soon as we fix one of his complaints, he comes up with another. My hubby was spraying the grass along the fence and accidentally got some overspray into this guy's "grass" (read this as weeds since we are in the country, we have no grass, just whatever green stuff grows around here). He called literally every day and informed us that it wasn't growing back yet. Then he threatened to take us to court to pay the $275 that he had gotten an estimate for to till up and replant his "grass". Mind you we are talking an area maybe 2 feet by 3 feet. It started growing back before it got to court, so he gave up. We didn't tell the Sheriff that they guy admitted to lying about the guineas pooping in his pool. We should have called them back and said that, but we are trying to be non confrontal with him. The only confrontation I have had is when I told him to stop feeding my birds. You can't feed them and then complain when they come around. I didn't even confront him after the fireworks and burning sticks being thrown at the birds. We have checked into getting a camera system. The problem is the amount of area we have to cover since we share about 1000' of shared lot line total.

I told my hubby that we need to get an ostrich that can look over his 8' privacy fence and stare at him all day. Then we need a Llama that will spit in his face and poop on him when he comes up to the fence, LOL. We did have pigs, but that was before we had issues with him, and then he couldn't say anything because two of them that we raised were his. I am scared to get more pigs even though our pork supply is dwindling, and we really need to raise another couple. My luck is that he will call and complain about them constantly if we get more. We just can't win.

If you are following the law, and you can have what you want, he can call all he wants and there is nothing they can do to you! Make sure you plug that hole, even if they find another way, then you can prove you are trying. My SIL would call on me when my ducks would get out, even though as soon as I would notice them heading over her way I would get them home. My police dept. said we don't have a duck ordinance nothing we can do but please try harder to keep them in. We do, they rarely go her way, and we only let them out when we are home to watch them for their safety and ours. Good luck, sounds like you are beating a dead horse!

Sounds to me like someone thought you were not cleaning up the horse manure at least weekly. Who knows why they thought that if you are cleaning daily and sometimes twice daily?

The ducks were there because HE took down the wiring. Not her fault.

he took down the wiring he put up........ Still within his rights, and still a huge turd face..... but still within the legal world. I don't like it..... and trust me I don't.. but.. She can put fencing up on her side and prevent this. He didn't have to put that up at all....

Like I said.... I think he's fishing trouble, but he's doing it in a manor that the OP cannot fight unless he/she contains her ducks.

I agree with Boyd--the OP needs to put up fencing. And I would suggest the really ugly orange plastic fence (if the OP can stand the sight of it). It is quite inexpensive, and while I don't think it will likely keep predators out, it should keep ducks in...and annoy the heck out of the neighbor who has to look at it.

I would get some plastic deer type fencing and put it up with bamboo stakes. The plastic fence I got was around $7 for a 4 foot by 50 foot roll.Bamboo was $1 for 6 5 foot poles.

There is nothing you can do about your neighbor except record and report HIS harrassment. Some take neighbors to court over emotional distress when things get REALLY crazY,and it can result in fines and not being permitted to come near you.

Poop in the pool only from your birds? Lol,how is he going to prove that one? Birds fly and poop.

I would make sure your boundary survey is current and valid.Don't want to have him fence up your land.Plant some bamboo, corkscrew willow,or 15 foot corn and block him out! Maybe a little stinging nettle too!

You can place a trampoline next to the 8 foot privacy fence,or build a fort for the kids that towers over his fence. I tend to let things lie as well, but if someone is sly to annoy(but follows the law) then I can do the same. There are many annoying things one can do,but still be within the law.Amp things up if your neighbor continues his antics.....after you ensure(to the best of your ability) your animals are kept out of his yard.

Recently my one cat snuck under the gate, and I found her in the neighbors yard.Animals do get loose despite fencing. I worked on blocking her escape route,so fingers crossed she is stuck in the yard. I know loose animals annoy others.....and then disappear.
