Totally love stinkers outside, tomorrow will add on outdoor run. My Cornish cross are 3 days old and they feel like they have sand in their pants they are so bottom heavy and waddling already, too funny. Tomorrow they will get exercise. Just glad I can breathe in laundry room had 30 stinky poop machines in there, holy ammonia!! PU!:duc

Wait until they are a few weeks old on the waddling. They remind me of a pregnant woman trying to run.

And 30 of them.

I thought 25 was plenty!

Correction, as I was looking at them yesterday. Their thighs and breasts are feathering in too. They have a bare strip in the center of their breast, bottoms are bare and backs are still bare.

Thank you! It's 78 here today, I have them in a run on the grass. They all seem pretty happy. I think I will start turning the heat off during the day, put it back on at night, for another week or so.

We had our 16 in the house for 5 days before I couldn't handle it anymore, lol.

They are little hot boxes! They were causing condensation on the roof of the coop. Last night I moved them down to a 70 watt bulb and still there was a bit of condensation. Tonight it will be 40 watts. I don't want to take them completely off heat, because a storm is coming in next week and they are not feathered in yet.

Heat plates are your friend

I tried that and they were pooping all over the top of it, then laying in it. So no more heat plate for them.

Ah, nasty little things. Mine poop on it, but it basically gets baked (ew) and can be brushed off the top.

From the sound of it they're keeping things pretty warm on their own, so you should be done with that lamp soon

Just reading your posts is bringing back the smell that took so long to get out of our garage where our meaties were kept until they were ready to go outside. Yeesh. I think anything in the garage made of cloth soaked up that smell for weeks. It will be a long time before we do meaties again. Will likely try the freedom rangers next time. Not sure if they are much different. Does anyone have experience with the two breeds?
