Processing pics from Chickenstock today!

That was amazing and very helpful! I am dreading the day I actually have to do the deed of killing and butchering, but your videos have given me hope!

Mrs. AK-Bird-Brain :

OK... so, now, the next part of the process is how you prepare them for the freezer so they don't turn into chicken-flavored leather...

Please share?
Our meat birds are wonderful, but I can't figure out how get our past-their-prime layers to soften up.
What do you guys do to prepare the chicken for the table?! Please?

But I read that you can soak them in salt water for 24 hrs. It is suppose to make the meat more tender. Good luck!

When PC showed us how to do it, it's wasn't as bad as I thought it was, there was bearly any blood, and the bird doesn't suffer at all, one chop and it was over. When you are butchering them just remember that you gave these birds a good life and now they are putting food on your table.

I'm thinking that I'm being too stingy with the salt...

I have 3 chickens brining in the fridge now since last night, but wondering if I should rinse and start over with a saltier mix and let them sit another day?

I started the meat bird tractor yesterday.

I was just looking on the MMH site and the frying pan special is only $13.50 for 25 birds. Are the fryers any good or would we be better off with the cornish x's? But we would deffiently love to split an order with you guys!
