Production Red Rooster???

How funny is it that the kids woke up this morning to a cock-a-doodle-doo from our former girl. There is no doubt now that we are the proud new owners of a rooster!!! You guys and gals hit it pretty much dead on!!

It's funny how shocking can be chicken love, if you are not use to see it. But that's the way it is. It's not romantic. And it's worse when the cockerells (and pullets) are young. Ones want it badly the others don't at all. When they get older , things are smoother.

Sorry to dig up an ancient thread but we just found out that one of our production reds is a roo too. S/He is 2x the size of the hens the same age. Just about 16wks, starting to crow in the mornings which is what tipped us off.

Not sure what to do now. Was only wanting hens. The two guineas make enough noise as is.
