Production Red Rooster???

You are welcome. We were all new to this once. My first batch of chicks was straight run on one breed and pullets on the second breed. Of the seven straight run breed chicks, one was DOA and the rest were ALL roosters. I spent weeks trying to pick out which ones were girls and which were the roosters. I believe the birds were 14 weeks old before I even suspected they were all boys and even then I held out some hope for the last one. I just didn't know what exactly I was looking for. Now I do.

You guys are awesome with your help. If he doesn't make too much noise and we keep him (which we'll probably do anyways) is there anything special we have to do with the eggs? What if we would like to raise some chicks? What's the process with that?

they will stop laying eggs and will just sit in a nesting box all the time from what i have learned on here also if you try to move them they become nasty!.....these are my first chickens they are 20 weeks old not to far ahead of ya!! so far i have 8 of 18 laying no one is broody i do have a couple of silkies that are a few weeks older than the rest and they have not laid one egg yet.....but the silkies are well known for thier broodiness which is why i got mine.....I got mine from a local breeder a trio that was not good enough to show but i still love them

I am planning on them as incubators if i decide to hatch any.

Give the guy a chance...looks like he is a beautiful bird. If he gets aggressive toward your kids though it's time for him to head to the freezer.

We have no plans for a trip to freezer camp. So far he's just fine, has never been mean to the kids nor the other ladies. We'll just wait and see how everything goes.

15 weeks is still quite young Be prepared for some changes in attitude.and the crowing ,my god the crowing. It is worth it.
